About Rajan
Rajan Patel is an experienced pharmacy professional and a recognised leader in regulatory inspection, bringing more than a decade of frontline and governance expertise to his role as Regional Manager – Inspections at the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
In this pivotal position, he oversees inspection activity across a wide and diverse range of pharmacy settings, ensuring that standards for safety, quality and professionalism are consistently met to protect patients and the public.
A registered pharmacist and Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, Rajan combines hands-on clinical experience with deep regulatory insight. Prior to joining the GPhC, he held leadership roles in community pharmacy, including serving as a Superintendent Pharmacist, where he was accountable for operational compliance, governance frameworks and the safe delivery of pharmacy services. This dual perspective, clinical and regulatory, gives him a unique ability to understand both the realities of pharmacy practice and the expectations of modern regulation.
At the GPhC, Rajan leads regional inspector teams, supports the development of inspection strategies, and contributes to the continuous evolution of the regulatory model. His work focuses on ensuring that pharmacies demonstrate not only compliance, but a culture of person-centred care, effective risk management, and ongoing quality improvement. He is known for his clear communication style, pragmatic approach to complex regulatory issues, and his commitment to supporting pharmacies in meeting and exceeding professional standards.
